pictures from outside a hospital
the images in this book are made in the in-between — the margin where private anxiety meets public space. outside the hospital’s walls, people pass in and out of frame: not posed, not named, just caught for a moment in the act of moving toward or away from something unsaid. they are the ones who wait, who pace, who light a cigarette or sit still with their hands folded — all of it happening in the silent orbit of something larger inside.
shot with deliberate blur and abstraction, the photos render the human form as vaporous and provisional. here, identity gives way to presence. these could be anyone. outside a hospital, everyone is in transition: between hope and grief, answers and uncertainty, arrival and return.
this is not documentary in the traditional sense. it’s something closer to a vigil — a record of fleeting witnesses, held just long enough to feel their weight, then gone.
